Our Impact

 The thing I love about Bright Bridge is they just want to help. They don’t need to know a story or aren’t looking for information so they can “judge” whether or not the situation is valid. They trust me as a school counselor to get help to those who are in need the most. So often, in my experience, well-meaning foundations make their own judgment calls as to who “deserves” the help or not. It is so refreshing to work with an organization I know will be there for my students and families, period!

Bright Bridge has been instrumental in helping students in need at Skyline. In my 25 years in education, I have always felt a need to help our students when state funds cannot fill the gaps. Bright Bridge fills these gaps and more! My first interaction was to find clothes and toiletries for a student. Within minutes I was asked what more can we do?!? This student’s smile was beaming once Bright Bridge Foundation delivered the need. I am proud to say they are now employed, and this is all because of this student getting clothes and shoes ready for his interview. Bright Bridge has opened the door to students that fly under the radar. Any support given to these children will change lives.

Middle School is one of the most challenging times socially for students on their journey to becoming adults. Equality and acceptance from their peers are crucial. Shaming comes in many forms. Obtaining the same food as their peers at lunch is paramount. Students who are a part of the free and reduced program get a complete school lunch daily. The lunches do not include snacks and drinks. Bright Bridge Foundation donates money monthly to help these students in need. The students do not know that money is put into their accounts monthly to provide for these snacks. Nothing is more humiliating for a student than to be singled out in front of their peers and have chips, ice cream, drinks, and other snacks taken away because they do not have sufficient funds in their lunch account. This simple gesture has eliminated tears and sadness from these students. We have had students not get lunch because of the embarrassment associated with a lack of funds in their lunch accounts. These students are hungry throughout their school day and cannot focus on their studies. Bright Bridge is not only impacting these students today but in their future as well. Success in the future requires a solid foundation in the present. Thank you, Bright Bridge, for your generosity and Kindness.

Before working with Bright Bridge, most of the students I saw who were tired and had stomach aches ended up going home for the day. After we began receiving their generous snack donations, I could give those students some rest and a snack of their choice and send them back to class, recharged and fueled up! Now, not only do I keep snacks in the health room, the counselors and principal’s assistant have snack baskets in their offices too! Thank you, Bright Bridge, for making a difference!
